Atomic has a really big hit with the new Nomad series, and the Whiteout is a great versatile ski that is a little less torsionally rigid in this new family. This ski is the same dimensions as its bigger brother the Nomad Blackeye. The Whiteout is lighter, quicker and a fun ski but still all Atomic; super stable and very solid on hard snow. Atomic has the most sophisticated R&D program in the ski business, and their enginering capability really shines in this new ski. Check out these features:
-
Lighter, Beta construction - Sector cut outs in the top of the ski remove excess weight. The Blackeye has 10 sectors, the most of any of the Nomad models.
-
Nano material - Cut out areas of the ski are reininforced with Atomic &acut; s proprietary Nano fibers. Lighter weight than any other fiber, but incredibly strong.
-
Metal laminate sheets - just under the top sheet, Titanal foil increases the twisting stiffness for superior edge hold and stability with virtually no additional weight.
-
Perfect sidecut shape for on and off trail with a medium radius shape. This ski is designed to be at home on or off trail.
- Beta 4 profile top sheet (shaped like a B on its back) has natural resistance to twisting. Atomic Beta skis are legendary for their edge hold on hard snow.
Included bindings are the Marker 12.0 Titanium Piston Control Turbo with Marker's top of the line Biometric toe and soft entry heel. This is a very good skiing ski that is usually sold with a very non performance oriented Atomic 4Tix binding, which is very inferior to the high end Marker bindings we offer here. Don't sell yourself short by buying an intermediate level binding with this great ski. Check out the 12.0 Ti PCT features by clicking on the binding tab above.
A custom mounted system like this Marker 12.0 Piston Control Turbo puts the binding location on the ski exactly where it should be for your boot sole. Many integrated systems, including the some of the brands listed above only provide a few locations for your boot to be located on the ski. You may end up in front of, or behind the optimum mounting position. With the 12.0 PC Turbo mounted properly on your ski, specifically for your boot, you can be certain you are standing exactly where the boot is supposed to be. Additionally, this binding mounts very solidly to the ski. There is no play between the toe and heel and the tracks that hold them. Racers use direct mount bindings because they want absolutely the tightest connection possible, which is not normally achieved with a one size fits all system like many skis come with today.
- Piston Control makes any good ski much better. A hydraulic cylinder is built into the center section of the binding platform, with the Turbo arm extending out in front of the toe piece and fastened to the ski with a single screw. The hydraulic cylinder retracts easily as the ski flexes, but resists extending as the ski counter flexes. Vibration traveling through the ski is filtered out by this hydraulic action. The result is a ski that is smoother when first placed on its edge, therefor more stable, and able to hold its edge better.
- Biometric toe features added upward release protection in backwards falls. The biometric models from Marker also offer a tighter link between boot and ski versus the Biotech models, due to the metal frame construction not found in the lesser models.
- Marker's exclusive Gliding AFD eliminates the sliding interaction between the toe of the boot and the toe of the binding. The entire toe and toe rest move with the both side to side allowing a very consistent release.
- Soft entry heel has a very low step in force, making the binding easier to get back into on difficult terrain, and very easy to get out of also.
- Titanium component construction is very light, but also strong enough to be super durable for many days of use by even the most aggressive skiers. The link between boot and ski is very tight.
- This binding has a DIN range of 3 to 12, and will work for any skier with a DIN setting of 4 or higher. That is virtually any adult skier.
- We will include a wide brake at no addtional charge when necessary to fit any ski from Proskiguy.
